Over the next year, the Calvert Forum will undertake three primary research projects:
Mapping St Petersburg’s Creative Industries – The overarching objective of the St Petersburg creative industries mapping research is to get a comprehensive picture of the St Petersburg’s creative economy, understand the professionals that constitute the creative community, and help raise the profile (in Russia and internationally) of the city’s creative industries.
Creative Cities Index – Building on Calvert’s mapping research, the Forum could develop a composite index measuring the various elements that make for a creative city. It would provide a useful talking point, and raise some of the issues around cultural infrastructure.
Creative Cities Case Studies – This project will run as a series, with the Forum producing one new case study report every quarter from Summer 2014. The case studies would look at international cities that have successfully established a dynamic creative economy. Each report would detail how the creative industries developed in the given city and illustrate the lessons that other cities – especially Russia’s regional cities – could apply.
